Joe Biden: The Faux Family Man
By Caroline Melear
For much of his political career, President Biden has touted his family values. The twice-married father of four, however, presides over a family with a complex history.
Biden’s first wife and young daughter were killed in a car accident in the early 1970s, leaving behind Joe and his two sons, Beau and Hunter. Joe and Jill Biden married in the late 1970s and had one child, Ashley. Biden’s elder son Beau tragically succumbed to brain cancer in 2015.
Hunter Biden has struggled with many scandals. Mainly thanks to the New York Post’s exposé before the 2020 election, Hunter has been exposed for crack-cocaine use and prostitute exploits, as well as international influence-peddling. He’s had affairs, including one with the widow of his late brother.
The infamous “laptop from hell” gave America all-too intimate insight into Hunter Biden and his disgraceful conduct. Among the saddest skeletons he hid in his closet was a child he conceived with a stripper in Arkansas.
While he initially denied he was the father of the girl, now four years old, Hunter’s paternity was confirmed in 2019. He has never met his young daughter and recently settled with her mother for a reduction in child support payments, according to reports.
While by now we know Hunter’s poor moral character, it’s shocking that self-avowed “family man” Joe Biden would add insult to injury by ignoring his grandchild.
Joe and Jill Biden have both denied the little girl’s existence. At Christmas, the couple did not put a stocking up for her at the White House. They excluded her name from Jill’s dedication page in her children’s book, which lists the names of every other grandchild of the Biden family.
Why would the First Family refuse to acknowledge their kin? A simple answer is saving face for politics. It’s hard to imagine a more despicable reason. Regardless of the circumstances of her conception, she shares the Biden blood. She is one of their own. A granddaughter of the president of the United States. Yet, he would keep her from his kitchen table and the American people, perhaps in an attempt to maintain the family man façade.
The Biden family adores and recognizes its six other grandchildren, two of which are from the late Beau and another four from Hunter. Interestingly, their youngest grandchild is not the 4-year-old girl, but Beau Biden Jr., born to Hunter in 2019. Joe and Jill Biden chose to skip over the little girl.
With this knowledge, their cruelty and intentional disdain for the child is clear. On Father’s Day of this year, in the heat of media speculation around Hunter’s love child, the president released the statement:
“Fathers are critical to raising the next generation and to teaching their daughters and sons about the values that matter most,” he said. “They demonstrate responsible fatherhood and foster healthy perspectives on masculinity. Along the way, dads help their children navigate life’s most difficult challenges, nurture their confidence and character, and give them the tools to develop a moral compass.”
This true statement rings hollow when considering Biden’s hypocrisy. Despite Democrats infantilizing him to shield him from facing accountability for his disgraceful record, Hunter is an adult in his 50s. His poor choices rest on his own shoulders. But when Biden claimed that fathers “demonstrate responsible fatherhood and foster healthy perspectives on masculinity,” he fooled nobody. The president’s “word,” which he often offers up for credibility, is utterly meaningless.
