Today, First Lady Melania Trump turns 56. She is the ultimate model of composure in style and substance. Her palette has narrowed in her second term, her silhouettes sharpened, and the result is a woman who has never looked more like herself. We could spend all day on the greatest hits. First term, second term, New York City red carpets, and last year’s New Year’s Eve ensemble at Mar-a-Lago—there are decades of extraordinary looks to pull from.

Today, we’re giving you six from this past year that you can recreate with ease. Elegant, wearable, and First Lady-approved.

“My mother was the epitome of elegance. She often emphasized that self-care was essential not only to a person’s well-being but also to being able to effectively care for others, and she instilled this conviction in me from an early age, teaching me the importance of attending to one’s appearance before venturing into the world. I have always found joy in the process of making myself presentable and getting ready. “If I don’t take care of myself,” she would say, “how would I know how to care for others?” The value of self-care remains a guiding principle in my life.”

The Fourth of July Dress

At the annual Independence Day military family picnic on the South Lawn, the First Lady donned a Thom Browne Cotton Poplin A-Line Shirtdress and Manolo Blahnik BB 105 Snake Red Pumps. What makes First Lady Trump’s style so consistently compelling is her ability to read a moment and respond to it precisely, finding exactly what the setting calls for and removing what doesn’t belong. What remained here were clean lines and the right colors. Simple, elegant, and endlessly re-creatable!

The Pink Powder Suit

The First Lady wore a dusty blush, Max Mara suit as she advocated for her second major legislative initiative of the term, protecting American foster care children. Melania approached the moment on Capitol Hill perfectly. Among a sea of suits, she chose a feminine color in a reserved hue and a comfortable silhouette.

The White Fringe Dress

The First Lady wore a Michael Kors Collection Tiered Fringe Double-Crepe Dress, which she previously donned during the first term in 2017 at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany.

It’s now sold out, but it’s a classic. This was arguably the most joyful Mrs. Trump looked all year. The fringe adds just enough energy without tipping into excess, and the white keeps everything clean and polished. The First Lady understood what the cultural occasion called for and kept it simple with her signature Christian Louboutin So Kate 120 mm Pumps in patent calf leather.

Though we can’t shop the flapper-inspired dress, you’ll find this look from Herve Leger (check Poshmark and RealReal), and similar fringe this season from brands like PatBo, Simon Miller, Doen, Show Me Your Mumu, and Sportmax.

“Top Gun” Turn

Our First Lady arrived at the USS Harry S. Truman to celebrate Navy Day in a dark brown Lamarque leather bomber jacket over a crisp white button-up, dark-wash straight-leg jeans from M.i.h, and the most perfect brown croc-skin loafers by Emme Parsons. By the time she boarded Air Force One, she had added oversized aviator sunglasses and a white USA Trump cap—Maverick-approved.

The Leopard Coat

Mrs. Trump wore the print like a neutral, which is the whole secret to pulling it off. The coat was warm brown and camel in tone, floor-length and structured—a gift from Palm Beach-based brand and designer Milly Park. There is a version of this coat that reads costume and a version that reads confidence, and First Lady Trump was firmly in the second category.

The Power Suit

The First Lady arrived at the Capitol in a tan Ralph Lauren three-piece suit, paired with a white button-down and a black tie, to advocate for the Take It Down Act, which has now been signed into law. It was the menswear moment everyone talked about all year, and for good reason. There was nothing decorative about any of it, which is, of course, exactly why it was so beautiful to watch.

The key to getting this look right is fit above all else. This particular Ralph Lauren suit has the same silhouette as the Aaiden Blazer from SS24, though a similar three-piece ensemble by Ralph is available and on sale below. Pair with a crisp white button-up, (Favorite Daughter has perfected one that is wrinkle-free), and then honestly, the rest comes down to your posture!

We are so grateful to have a First Lady whose example is a beacon to the world. Happy Birthday, FLOTUS!
