WELCOME TO THE CONSERVATEUR CLUB
The Latest
There is a common thread connecting women everywhere. Whether you’re a young professional walking to the subway after work—headphones in, keys clenched between your fingers—or a mother finishing a Target run, buckling your toddler into a car seat while scanning the parking lot, there is a shared experience beneath it all. A quiet but constant awareness of your surroundings. An edge that every woman learns to carry.
As America prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of its founding, Memorial Day also presses a deeper question upon the living: Are we preserving a nation worthy of such sacrifice? The men and women buried beneath white headstones died in service to a country ordered by constitutional liberty, civic duty, and the conviction that freedom is worth defending.
To the women of the West, life under the Iranian regime is incomprehensible. In Iran, the legal age of marriage is 13, women are banned from dancing or singing in public, passports can only be obtained with written permission from a man, and of course, the hijab is required to hide their faces from the world.
Boyfriends are out. I was surprised to learn this while scrolling through social media. No longer is even the practice of dating safe from the critical eye of those who champion the
empowerment of women. British Vogue recently denounced partnership, designating singleness as a “desirable and coveted status,” citing its rise as “another nail in the coffin of a centuries-old heterosexual fairytale.”
Culture & Society
While the conservative movement should promote marriage and family, its spokespeople shouldn’t be dissuading women from pursuing a career. Young women won’t be attracted to the conservative movement if it tells them that they have to quit jobs that they love to be moms. Normal girls need to be sold on a true, wholesome image of freedom, faith, and family in balance with endeavors outside of the home.
The fact that two men cannot procreate is not insignificant. Whether you’re religious or not, God or nature, created man and woman to conceive and raise children. The complementary relationship between man and woman has enduring Biblical and evolutionary significance. Since the beginning of mankind, human civilization has relied on the prosperity and proliferation of the nuclear family for survival.
When a child identifies as transgender, parents are often told by healthcare professionals that their child’s mental health will be harmed unless they receive “gender affirming care.” This term can be translated into genital mutilation and chemical castration through surgeries, hormones, and puberty blockers. We have an obligation to protect children from this self-damaging movement and lifelong regret.
Transgenderism is the antithesis of feminism, as it promotes pithy and upbeat caricatures of womanhood, relying largely on stereotypes that women have fought to overcome. Men identifying as women are now dominating women’s sports, making millions of dollars off corporate sponsorships, and invading female bathrooms. So, when did the feminist movement shift to affirming identity and away from affirming merit? How might this seemingly harmless cultural affirmation devalue the accomplishments of women and girls? And, importantly, who has their back?
Relationships
In the US, most people get married between the ages of 28-30 and the average life expectancy is about 77 years. This social pressure to get married is a net good, especially in the United States where we, like many countries, have a slowing replacement rate. However, single women who want children are in a race against time and statistics. Doctors freak us out with the term, “geriatric pregnancy,” and the visibility of fertility struggles that writers and influencers experience is empowering, but worrying for those of us who haven’t even found a partner, let alone started trying for children. If you’re single and feeling lost, you’re not alone.
Romance is in decline, and we have the culture to blame. Here’s a bold blueprint for restoring real love. One tip: stop vainly looking for a Hollywood “10.” Looks fade, values don’t
In a culture that celebrates dating apps and hookup culture, it can be difficult to discern who is a good man and who is just pretending to be one. Whether you’re looking for a boyfriend or good guys to befriend, finding a good man requires knowing how to recognize one.
While previous generations engaged in proper courtship, children of the 2000s are often caught in ambiguous pre-relationship territories, such as the “talking stage.” The “talking stage” means that you and your love interest are chatting regularly, hanging out, and contemplating a future relationship, although with no sure timeline. It’s a stretch to say you’re “dating.” It’s important to spend your time intentionally so you’re not stuck in the talking stage for longer than you want or deserve.
Faith
Being desperate for the salvation and healing love of Jesus Christ is the most beautiful characteristic a person could ever possess. It demonstrates true humility, total submission and glorifies God Almighty.
Even though it was heartbreak that made me fall to my knees before Him, it was the grace of God Almighty that stood me back up, ready and able to fight for my family and my Faith.
As Americans are barred from attending religious services, churches are set ablaze across the world, and protesters attack our monuments to Saints, and openly desecrate the Bible in our streets, Americans must fight for our faith harder than ever before.
Family
All moms have been there. You’re exhausted from a long day of playing all the roles – loving wife, attentive and patient mother, overachieving employee. Tack on other less noticed roles like chef, housekeeper, nurse, and chauffeur. You love your family and are grateful for them but your body and mind are strained. The kids are finally fed, bathed, and put to bed and what you really need now, you think to yourself, is a nice glass of wine. There is nothing wrong with a glass of wine (or even two) at the end of the day. Wine has been enjoyed by cultures around the world for centuries. Many studies suggest health benefits in an occasional glass of red. But in today’s social media era of mommy influencers and “treat yourself” gospel, a toxic culture of borderline alcoholism has emerged.
I believe living in service to our families allows us to find true meaning. When we do good, we feel good. Starting a family is an instinctual yearning for most women. Telling women to pursue a self-indulgent and self-oriented life isn’t just wrong; it’s a lie. Being a mom, while challenging, offers more blessings than living for oneself ever will.
We poke fun at our families for their perfectly ordinary dysfunction and delight in the fact that others out there share the struggle. But when does it end, and when does rising above that begin?
Before my son was born , I felt that working full time was what I was meant to do. It’s what my entire social circle did. It’s what all the magazines and TV shows nowadays are geared towards. However, once I became pregnant I knew I did not want to go back to a life of spending my days in an office. I wanted to be, first and foremost, the caretaker of my growing family.
The old saying is still true today: the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world. Raising children in a loving household where fathers and mothers play an active role in molding and disciplining them to be responsible, discerning, and kind citizens is a selfless endeavor with lasting rewards.
My dad is a pillar of strength and leadership in my family, the greatest example of a man who loves his God first and his family second.
God ordained each mother with a unique ability to intimately connect with the hearts of their children. Mothers are there to hold us when we cry, lend us their strength during tough battles, and cheer us on as we accomplish our dreams.
I once heard an adoptive mom say that if we’re pro-life, we have to get behind adoption. The two go hand in hand. The words of James 1:27, later echoed by Abraham Lincoln, remind us to care for orphans and widows in their distress.
For those of us who prioritize values-based parenting and protecting the innocence of childhood for as long as possible, we can no longer feel secure in the venues we once enjoyed as kids. Ideas that until very recently were almost universally accepted, such as treating everyone with kindness and respect no matter who they are, have been pushed aside in the woke era.
College & Career
Law school isn’t easy. We have hundreds of pages to read, countless hours of research to do, dense papers to write, and dreaded cold-calls to prepare for each semester. But being a law student with conservative views is a whole different ball game. That experience is so much more than being pro-freedom, pro-morality, and pro-America.
The approaching new year is the perfect time to consider how we can become better versions of ourselves. By taking inventory of the skills and habits we wish to maintain, leave behind, or develop, and making resolutions for 2022, we’re making strides towards self-improvement.
My name is Erin Elmore and you may recognize me from Fox News, OANN, Newsmax or Turning Point USA. None of my recognition would have been possible without Donald Trump. Sure, I made a few decent decisions in my life. I graduated cum laude with degrees in broadcasting and political science, went on to graduate law school, passed the bar exam, and got a job at a law firm, but it was the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump, who changed the trajectory of my life forever.
College isn’t a one-way ticket to success, and it has never been. So why is attending college the paramount goal of high schoolers, parents, and teachers?
TC was founded by conservatives at both universities and inspired by the unique experiences and critical differences conservatives face at each institution. In many ways, the schools are foils of each other and represent the two paths conservatives can take through college.
The White House Internship program is one of the most prestigious internships in the country and the most well-rounded I have ever participated in. Between the work you do, the speaker series you’re invited to, the events you get to attend, and the people you meet, it is a once in a lifetime adventure that will open up many doors for your future.
